My chili is da-bomb diggity!  I made this recipe in February 2018 on a cold winter day, it warmed my tummy and delighted my taste buds.  If you don’t have any Lakewood Brewing Co beer in your area, I recommend a good and creamy stout beer.  This turned out so much better than I ever imagined!

Beer Chili

  • 1 pound grass fed ground beef
  • 1 pound of Italian sausage mild
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes (14 1/2 ounces)
  • 2 cans tomato sauce (14 1/2 ounces)
  • 1 Small can tomato paste
  • 1 bottle stout beer 12 ounces (Lakewood Brewing Co. Temptress Imperial Milk Stout)
  • 1 Small yellow onion chopped
  • 3/4 cup chili powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped pickled jalapeño slices
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar

Optional: Fritos corn chips and Colby Jack shredded cheese

How to make:

  1. Brown meat, add onions and minced garlic. Cook on medium-low heat until onions are transparent.
  2. Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, beer, and the rest of the spices.
  3. Simmer on medium low heat for 3 to 4 hours before serving.
  4. Serve chili on top of Fritos and sprinkle with cheese on top.
